In my studio, I am scheduled to work on art about the Advent season for a fall exhibition, and I am starting some experiments on a new technique for the pieces using gold oil paint and the process of atomizing, BUT I have been affected by the images surrounding the Covid-19 pandemic and the death of George Floyd. I have completed 2 of the 3 Covid pieces and now plan to start 2 pieces on racism. For years I have wanted to make this wooden piece about racism, so now I will try to start it, along with a knitted piece that I have envisioned. My family is multi-racial and racism has always been a factor in our family events in public. I remember as a young adult I so wished races would intermarry universally so that we would all become one neutral color. This impression influences my work.
